The 14th Annual Calaveras Grape Stomp is history, but chances are there'll be another one next year.

For more news about Calaveras Wineries, click here.

The Calaveras Grape Stomp, held in conjunction with the Goldrush Street Faire, is a fun-filled day of activities, shopping, wine-tasting, and of course, the most serious (yeah, right) Grape Stomping you'll see anywhere!

How Does the Grape Stomp Work?

Teams are composed of two people, the Stomper, who stands inside a half barrel and stomps the grapes, and a Swabber (aka Mucker), who reaches into the barrel and ensures a smooth flow of juice through the filter.

The juice is precisely weighed, with teams advancing towards the Championship Stomp. Prizes are awarded to the winners of their heats, and special prizes are awarded to the top three finishers of the Championship Stomp.

Teams also compete in an optional Costume Contest.  Teams in costume need not compete in costume, but must check-in in costume.
